Anna & Daniel’s Art Gallery Wedding

Anna & Daniel’s incredible wedding at Islington Twin Hall and Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery

Anna & Daniel’s wedding was the first I covered in 2019, and what a way to start! The ceremony was held at Islington Town Hall – one of the most photogenic wedding venues I’ve been to; a mix of marble staircases, art deco features and the best corridors (see the photos). And to top that they decided to hold the reception in an art gallery – more specifically the Rebecca Hossack Gallery in Fitzroy Square. The art school grad in me is of course biased towards using a gallery as a reception venue, but it was clear this was going to be an amazing wedding!

I knew it was going to be a relaxed day when the girls were in still discussion on how to iron the wedding dress when I arrived at Anna’s flat, not long before they were due to leave for the wedding. Having worked that out, they jumped in a taxi and headed over to Islington Town Hall.  Anna and Daniel entered the ceremony together. As I tell every couple who are planning their wedding – ignore any tradition and do what feels right, rocking up together included. They had their ceremony in the Council Chambers, literally surrounded by friends and family.

Following the ceremony I third wheeled my way into a taxi with the newly-weds and we headed over to Fitzrovia, while the guests hung out in the pub (another good wedding tip there – if in doubt with what to do with guests, send them to the pub). Fitzrovia is one of those places in London which becomes serene at the weekend. Anna and Daniel had scouted out some wonderful little hidden streets for their portraits.

When we got to the gallery, the staff were busy painting an ‘Anna and Daniel’ mural across the front of the gallery, proving the point of the art galleries as an ideal wedding venue (how many other places are going to start painting their frontages for you?!). The setting for the meal was equally as intimate and welcoming as the ceremony had been. Being a self-admitted “shuffler” during the first dance at our own wedding, it’s always so impressive to see a couple who commit to dance lessons and a choreographed routine, as Anna and Daniel had done. The party continued late into the night while food and drink was served by Bread & Honey.

Congratulations to Anna and Daniel for creating such a relaxed environment on what can be a stressful day. Thank you for having me there to capture a truly unique wedding!
